I LOVE how it turned out! </span><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-4vKleTHEZyI/TjLFcdfjJ5I/AAAAAAAAAKg/3k59_1rCAIw/s1600/photo.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><img border="0" height="268" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-4vKleTHEZyI/TjLFcdfjJ5I/AAAAAAAAAKg/3k59_1rCAIw/s320/photo.JPG" t$="true" width="320" /></span></a></div><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">I painted the table with Krylon Dual in Black Gloss. It matches the dining table perfectly! More on the table scape accents later! In case you forgot, here is what it looked like before:</span><br />

<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-rd_rmVy-XCs/Thc31V-Kc1I/AAAAAAAAAI8/3GWRlgm_vOE/s1600/photo-1.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><img border="0" height="320px" m$="true" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-rd_rmVy-XCs/Thc31V-Kc1I/AAAAAAAAAI8/3GWRlgm_vOE/s320/photo-1.JPG" width="278px" /></span></a></div><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">It is nearly finished and will be part of my entry way/dining room makeover. We use a side door off of our drive way to come in and out of the house and it is currently the dumping ground for everything. I'm pulling together some items to dress it up and make it more functional. Here is a quick fun project that I really enjoyed. </span><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"></span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-fZ3mqkmbK28/TiBGjYNX3hI/AAAAAAAAAJs/stX4cKpNFpA/s1600/photo-3.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><img border="0" height="265px" m$="true" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-fZ3mqkmbK28/TiBGjYNX3hI/AAAAAAAAAJs/stX4cKpNFpA/s320/photo-3.JPG" width="320px" /></span></a></div><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">I took a frame that I got at Good Will months back and spray painted it with one of my new dining room colors Ivy Leaf from </span><a href="http://www.krylon.com/index.jsp"><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Krylon</span></a><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">. I had some cork squares from another project and they were the PERFECT width for the frame. I did have to trim one down to make it fit but all in all, they worked great. </span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">To make the tacks, I used the method that is all over blogland and mod podged some scrap book paper to the back of some vase decor gems I had on hand. (These gems were tinted different colors so I used corresponding scrap paper to make them especially vibrant.) Then I hot glued some thumb tacks to the back of them. This is going to look great on my mini gallery wall in then entry way. </span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">I'm hoping to actually be able to do a reveal of part of this area sometime next week!</span><br />

Yes you read that right. The attachment I use on my spray cans broke and I was forced to do it the old fashioned way and it made my arm sore. SO, I got out my handy foam brush and went at it. </span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"></span></div><div align="center"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-wmyIgAs-usI/ThcS3JsfNdI/AAAAAAAAAIo/0BHDVdRiJuk/s1600/1+KC.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><img border="0" height="219px" m$="true" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-wmyIgAs-usI/ThcS3JsfNdI/AAAAAAAAAIo/0BHDVdRiJuk/s320/1+KC.jpg" width="320px" /></span></a></div><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">I know that the before picture is not pretty but you get the idea. Boring black lamp that sat on a black table. I decided it needed some color. I painted it with Rapids from </span><a href="http://www.valsparpaint.com/en/index.html?source=p&mcode=Search_Google"><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Valspar.</span></a><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"> It is a nice Aqua color. I'm hoping it goes nicely with my old door turned coffee table once that is finished. I left the top of the lamp base black incase I ever want to change it back or to another color and I didn't feel like taping it off. The next step will be to slightly destress the lamps and decide what I want to do with the boring lamp shades. </span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">I have so many projects in mind for the weekend that I don't even know where to start! Most likely it will be giving this little fellow a makeover: </span><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-rd_rmVy-XCs/Thc31V-Kc1I/AAAAAAAAAI8/3GWRlgm_vOE/s1600/photo-1.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><img border="0" height="320px" m$="true" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-rd_rmVy-XCs/Thc31V-Kc1I/AAAAAAAAAI8/3GWRlgm_vOE/s320/photo-1.JPG" width="278px" /></span></a></div><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Have a great weekend!</span><br />
<div align="center"></div><div style="text-align: left;"></div>Kristenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02298144415187568506noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-374665626766191041.post-65565316681591023212011-07-07T07:33:00.000-07:002011-07-07T07:33:15.254-07:00Insomnia = T-Shirt Refashion<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">So last night I could not fall asleep to save my life. So I did what any insomniatic crafter would do, I refashioned a t-shirt. I will admit, initially I was resolved to simply watching multiple episodes of Pawn Stars via Netflix. BUT I decided to take some inspiration from Ellie G over at </span><a href="http://www.lesscakemorefrosting.com/"><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Less Cake More Frosting</span></a><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"> and </span><a href="http://www.lesscakemorefrosting.com/2011/05/add-your-thoughts-here-journal.html"><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">this</span></a><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"> productive insomnia post. Not only did she use her insomnia to create the fab journal below, but she also may have helped solve her insomnia issue in the process! Go check out her post and see for yourself!</span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"></span> <table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgrhQXE8dhl-wmcnVfgTBFnvMjtslHpBho9oGV5Z12PrqlHnwgSRra0LABueHlbX-Z8KD_QvydgYKb6i4If_AO7QmdHI8wiC8AhZZUWGvsyVk2TAIbAbTC3MXnLVe8tUR_sTGpCphF1JF4/s1600/LCMF-New-Journal.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><img border="0" height="211px" m$="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgrhQXE8dhl-wmcnVfgTBFnvMjtslHpBho9oGV5Z12PrqlHnwgSRra0LABueHlbX-Z8KD_QvydgYKb6i4If_AO7QmdHI8wiC8AhZZUWGvsyVk2TAIbAbTC3MXnLVe8tUR_sTGpCphF1JF4/s320/LCMF-New-Journal.jpg" width="320px" /></span></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.lesscakemorefrosting.com/2011/05/add-your-thoughts-here-journal.html"><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">LCMF</span></a></td></tr>
</tbody></table><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">I had been wanting to do a t-shirt refashion project for a while and decided to have at it. Unfortunately I was in that tired but not tired state and didn't take any process pictures but here is how it turned out:</span><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgQhrjUkZyJKYGY0CCY2wyYaNr0lRL7eWLFiitHvIeK4gDBdkgyBKFcei26XhFYuuwsY6r2tCiMpBBdIjLOTwMvY4ZcS6fVWg7y9uJIKaOSa-_XmDhQDpFv0_fU1xiA_WwKT-MQJpWG_Ro/s1600/gray+tshirt+flex.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><img border="0" height="232px" m$="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgQhrjUkZyJKYGY0CCY2wyYaNr0lRL7eWLFiitHvIeK4gDBdkgyBKFcei26XhFYuuwsY6r2tCiMpBBdIjLOTwMvY4ZcS6fVWg7y9uJIKaOSa-_XmDhQDpFv0_fU1xiA_WwKT-MQJpWG_Ro/s320/gray+tshirt+flex.jpg" width="320px" /></span></a></div><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Basically I just cut some strips from an old shrunken t-shirt, set my sewing machine on the highest tension level and longest stitch possible and ruffled my strips. I scrunched (yes, scrunched. This is a very technical term for those of you who are not aware) the strips down by holding on to the bottom "tail" thread to create an extra ruffled look. I placed and pinned them on my shirt and sewed them on, following my ruffle lines as best I could. I intended on adding some flowers but I liked how the ruffles turned out. </span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Although I did need to enjoy and extra large Diet Coke this morning, the insomnia was worth it.</span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">More home decor updates to come soon!</span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><em>*This post was brought to you by the letter '</em>I<em>' for insomnia*</em></span><br />
<div align="center"></div><div align="center"></div>Kristenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02298144415187568506noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-374665626766191041.post-70108709925616214922011-07-06T10:07:00.000-07:002011-07-06T10:07:36.947-07:00Major. Craft. Fail. & Thanks for hanging in there<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">I just realized that it has been almost a month since I posted last. Man has it been busy. I have been sewing and crafting things for a new local store that is opening and requested some of my baby items (more on that some other time). Also, I have been in a bit of a craft funk. I try to do things on the cheap or wait until funds are available to do things and that is becoming fewer and farther between as with summer comes fun activities, and those cost money. </span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Renting a house was what worked for us when we moved here since we weren't/aren't ready to buy but let me tell you it has been difficult. Our house is old and made up of plaster walls which equals a decorating disaster. It is almost impossible to hang anything of substance on them. Last night I rearranged our bedroom and was attempting to create something like this: </span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"></span> <table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiQKW1pRUUJC4cfr0uzCDkXQrK78BWZp0GuAmUARRJe-UlEXY0qV7THHOxA07-8Do2F2YVRU8V5w5iy2_OMN0e68nktazU2PkFZAZFInreqUzbRKbicRlxCLVHL_H3TbFj_wwr7K_vqlEM/s1600/Headboard+curtain.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><img border="0" height="320px" m$="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiQKW1pRUUJC4cfr0uzCDkXQrK78BWZp0GuAmUARRJe-UlEXY0qV7THHOxA07-8Do2F2YVRU8V5w5iy2_OMN0e68nktazU2PkFZAZFInreqUzbRKbicRlxCLVHL_H3TbFj_wwr7K_vqlEM/s320/Headboard+curtain.jpg" width="213px" /></span></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Via Pinterest</span></td></tr>
</tbody></table><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">I used a much smaller and lighter curtain rod to hang the curtain, not even thinking that it wouldn't hold in the plaster. After measuring and marking everything, I went to hang the first hook and this is what happened:</span><br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjy4t4p3TTmLL4KcRhSSzx477nrU_urUT3mDZg36btT2abhnxqfTUsWBSouLzqB9isH9RsHG71qkm79yOonwJEPBhm5r4a-hr75lJi14yGsEeHD3oNZeUMpjlWr1c6CQrFaTgPuc_I6gnw/s1600/Wall+holes+flex.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><img border="0" height="320px" m$="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjy4t4p3TTmLL4KcRhSSzx477nrU_urUT3mDZg36btT2abhnxqfTUsWBSouLzqB9isH9RsHG71qkm79yOonwJEPBhm5r4a-hr75lJi14yGsEeHD3oNZeUMpjlWr1c6CQrFaTgPuc_I6gnw/s320/Wall+holes+flex.jpg" width="238px" /></span></a></div><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">It is a little hard to read but in short, I was left with three screw holes and a hot glue mark. Yes, I was that desparate that I tried to HOT GLUE the hook to the wall. It worked for the most part and then gave way. </span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">I left it alone for now hoping that tonight I will come up with something that will make it work. If anyone knows how to hang things from plaster, PLEASE help so that I don't <strike>go insane</strike> end up with multiple holes in my walls. </span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">I don't even have a clue as to how I'm going to hang this beast:</span><br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgpetm5isj0hLbx1iKFJAexGsfZBDEwJDkpNsKVA8nUGjwgJb_GXmAOqifSnuwHLrvRl3YAqbx71vbk_NxyHNXxu3K4_vuqJXwQlvR4JWLJFER5QMJ0s_bVRlRC8sW7FYM3CfFmgDRLBxk/s1600/mirror.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="174px" m$="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgpetm5isj0hLbx1iKFJAexGsfZBDEwJDkpNsKVA8nUGjwgJb_GXmAOqifSnuwHLrvRl3YAqbx71vbk_NxyHNXxu3K4_vuqJXwQlvR4JWLJFER5QMJ0s_bVRlRC8sW7FYM3CfFmgDRLBxk/s320/mirror.JPG" width="320px" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"></div>Kristenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02298144415187568506noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-374665626766191041.post-67951203154489537522011-06-09T08:12:00.000-07:002011-06-09T08:14:35.199-07:00A little bit of this<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;"><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Last night we had a bonfire in our back yard and I decided I wanted some s'mores. Now usually I am the person who piles all of the s'more supplies in my arms and gets outside as fast as I can before I drop anything. This time I decided to be smart.</span></div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;"><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br />

</div><div align="left" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;"><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">I took a cookie sheet and threw all of my supplies on there and carried them outside. I even had a free hand to grab my water to take with. Now this may seem like common sense to everyone but it was a revolation to me! Sorry for being away so long but it has been a busy time since I've been back from vacation. I want to show you something I did for my sister in law's baby shower this weekend. </span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">I am doing some custom vinyl art for her nursery as her gift but it wasn't going to be done in time for her shower so I wanted to make her something else for her to open. I decided to do a basket of burpees (fancy burp rags). Mostly I did this because when I had my son, I didn't like many of the designs for burp rags that were available in stores. I chose some flannel fabric with the colors of her nursery and sewed her a set.</span><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgQcc1WJj2PLJNNLRvJWcxzA4skmW6fD9TDScGgCZB-Hmxn8l64C-ACExFYgPmXROilBosc1b-v39up_g3Bd1qyTcBI_holInFBwA2Z2txoqejWBjkkby5lDQ2ZMZ1KmOUpR9hzlxOabyY/s1600/burpee+basket+flex.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><img border="0" height="320px" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgQcc1WJj2PLJNNLRvJWcxzA4skmW6fD9TDScGgCZB-Hmxn8l64C-ACExFYgPmXROilBosc1b-v39up_g3Bd1qyTcBI_holInFBwA2Z2txoqejWBjkkby5lDQ2ZMZ1KmOUpR9hzlxOabyY/s320/burpee+basket+flex.jpg" t8="true" width="238px" /></span></a></div><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">This is what I ended up with. The fabric is sewn on to white cloth diapers down the center. I really loved all the baby fabric options that I used for this. I may make my son something out of them. The giraffe print was my favorite so I decided to make her a little stuffed animal as well to go along with it. </span><br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjWhXVLE9W_lhbGK0qMXO7kYwkCEQlm5F0GMOPeZWp7GKjbkq9I9ALgrin6ETPki03Y3Cj6OAYRnSFaqfmlzlhm4zUazuKfpfTD0zGSQ3WijaOZlXaLKTkSYRomji8rXJRqJYiXEHn56BQ/s1600/giraffe+flex.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><img border="0" height="320px" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjWhXVLE9W_lhbGK0qMXO7kYwkCEQlm5F0GMOPeZWp7GKjbkq9I9ALgrin6ETPki03Y3Cj6OAYRnSFaqfmlzlhm4zUazuKfpfTD0zGSQ3WijaOZlXaLKTkSYRomji8rXJRqJYiXEHn56BQ/s320/giraffe+flex.jpg" t8="true" width="211px" /></span></a></div><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">The other side of the giraffe has the blue fabric that I used with a little ribbon that I had on hand. I had never sewn a stuffed animal before and it was quite an interesting process but it turned out cute!</span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Sets of these burp rags will be available on my Etsy shop (get their by clicking the link on my sidebar) by the end of this week with boy and girl options.</span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Stay tuned for some home decor projects this week! </span><br />

<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">I bought this little beauty (used) and am <strike>impatiently</strike> waiting for it to arrive (hopefully today)! I have been looking for a little more advanced camera then my trusty creditcard sized point and shoot and happened upon this one. It is a Sony Cyber-shot DSC-H1 5.1MP and about 5 years old. I got a great deal on it and think it will be a fabulous camera to learn on. </span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">As soon as I purchased it I also hopped over to </span><a href="http://kristendukephotography.com/"><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Kristen Duke Photography</span></a><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"> to purchase her e-book, Say NO to Auto.</span><br />

<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">She teaches a workshop on how to get the best out of your camera and not rely on the automatic settings. For workshop listings click </span><a href="http://kristendukephotography.com/?page_id=2656"><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">here</span></a><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">. Her e-book is what she uses in her workshop as a teaching aid. The best part? Its only $10!!!!! You purchase from her and she e-mails the files to you! They are sized 4x6 so they can fit easily in a photo album to go in your camera bag. I will show you what I did with mine tomorrow.</span><br />

Today I'm going to show you the start of a Pinterest inspired craft. Here is my inspiration. Please prepare to swoon...</span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"></span> <br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://pinterest.com/pin/16691907/"><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">http://pinterest.com/pin/16691907/</span></a></td></tr>
</tbody></table><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"></span> <br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Isn't that amazing! I fell in love with this idea as soon as I saw it and knew I wanted to do something like it for my most used bathroom essentials. I loved the frame idea but was too lazy to go to home depot and get some metal cut so here's what I'm starting with.</span><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh_vsfYgAwwQEmt_tCfSNO38wrf27N35B3nShog8LmrvCoHMTKONtW3dOGId18KMJk-DBwA5B-HbU6LibBAyUj5uKpjl3wmcei9rDns8K-zjj9UO-8Ulsr2VUPx-BSrWz-p10oxQtF_S5o/s1600/Flex+Make+Up+Tray.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><img border="0" height="238px" j8="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh_vsfYgAwwQEmt_tCfSNO38wrf27N35B3nShog8LmrvCoHMTKONtW3dOGId18KMJk-DBwA5B-HbU6LibBAyUj5uKpjl3wmcei9rDns8K-zjj9UO-8Ulsr2VUPx-BSrWz-p10oxQtF_S5o/s320/Flex+Make+Up+Tray.jpg" width="320px" /></span></a></div><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">I bought two pizza pans from the Dollar Tree and last night I painted them with their first coat of Rapids by </span><a href="http://www.valsparpaint.com/en/explore-colors/color-selector/index.html#2"><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Valspar</span></a><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">. Generally I would have like to use a spray paint primer for this but seeing as it was 30 degrees with snow flurries here in Wisconsin, I decided to just jump in with the paint. As you can see, they are anxiously awaiting a few more coats and decor. </span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">I can't wait to show you how these turn out!</span><br />

<span style="color: #c27ba0; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"></span><br />
<span style="color: #c27ba0; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Think of Pinterest as a virtual pinboard — a place where you can create collections of things you love and "follow" collections created by people with great taste.</span><br />
<span style="color: #c27ba0; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">People use Pinterest to collect and share all sorts of things -- wedding inspiration, favorite T-shirts, DJ equipment. You name it, people are pinning it.</span><br />
<span style="color: #c27ba0; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">We know you have great taste in something. Our mission is to make Pinterest the best place for you to share your taste with the world.</span><br />

<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">You will be seeing a lot of Pinterest inspired crafts in the future! Here are some of the things from my Pinboards:</span><br />

<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhlfhef7yAHAgDMJLDt4BlMYmvaB5kv4jP6S8yo0X2h0e9Ll8y1Hmv9jfiPkZLOEt7NWo1qagGbiqd5VysHqVjygd3HRv1ru2ZzaOfkhb1CTfm0B6QlVeIDJ4qwtOBIJr7EBB_4m7NB35Q/s1600/BFood+Jars+Flex.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><img border="0" height="238px" i8="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhlfhef7yAHAgDMJLDt4BlMYmvaB5kv4jP6S8yo0X2h0e9Ll8y1Hmv9jfiPkZLOEt7NWo1qagGbiqd5VysHqVjygd3HRv1ru2ZzaOfkhb1CTfm0B6QlVeIDJ4qwtOBIJr7EBB_4m7NB35Q/s320/BFood+Jars+Flex.jpg" width="320px" /></span></a></div><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">These are going to meet some spray paint and a little surprise. Can't wait for it to warm up so I can work on them!</span><br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgpetm5isj0hLbx1iKFJAexGsfZBDEwJDkpNsKVA8nUGjwgJb_GXmAOqifSnuwHLrvRl3YAqbx71vbk_NxyHNXxu3K4_vuqJXwQlvR4JWLJFER5QMJ0s_bVRlRC8sW7FYM3CfFmgDRLBxk/s1600/mirror.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><img border="0" height="174px" i8="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgpetm5isj0hLbx1iKFJAexGsfZBDEwJDkpNsKVA8nUGjwgJb_GXmAOqifSnuwHLrvRl3YAqbx71vbk_NxyHNXxu3K4_vuqJXwQlvR4JWLJFER5QMJ0s_bVRlRC8sW7FYM3CfFmgDRLBxk/s320/mirror.JPG" width="320px" /></span></a></div><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">This mirror, you guessed it, it is getting a last coat of paint. Once that has dried, I will have to change the hanging hooks so that it will hang the direction that I want. The shelves for my faux mantle are also being painted. </span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">One of the projects I don't have pictures of yet is a multi purpose bag that I spontaneously started last night. My son and I will be going on vacation with my parents and friends in May (hubby can't go, sad face) so I wanted a bag that could function as a purse and diaper bag combo. This way for excursions during the day, I would only have to carry one bag around. The reason I don't have pictures for you is 1) I'm not a good sewer 2) I had no idea what I was doing. I'm making this bag out of upholstery fabric so that it is nice and durable. If any of you have tips on traveling with small children, I'm all ears! </span><br />

I have always wanted to have a little fresh herb garden but have never had a good spot for it. In this house, I have the perfect window ledge with ample sunlight to house a few pots. </span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Here's how I customized them:</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">I bought three pots and drip plates from Walmart that totalled to about $6</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">I chose three herb seed packs for $1 a piece </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">and a bag of potting soil for just under $3 (I only used about 1/6 of the bag so I have plans for the rest)</span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">I painted the pots with Belle Grove Antique White from </span><a href="http://www.valsparpaint.com/en/index.html?source=p&mcode=Search_Google"><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Valspar</span></a><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"> and let them dry.</span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Using my </span><a href="http://www.silhouetteamerica.com/"><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Silhouette</span></a><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"> I cut out the names of the herbs in black vinyl (I used the font LD Inventive from the Silhouette store). Then I transferred the images to the pots. </span><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhTGascK-4AU-CL3nBR0dnjPMIik-ILoODwqEV8FSt2qMfvLRSQrALZi6MilPbSXhQvawQSdnHzF-FaBMAIm6ZikQQoBh6LLbPCOjjSTpHju_X2mrb80HG7ucOUIZCqnqEvTo48r7y1zRs/s1600/Herb+Pots+Flex.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><img border="0" height="238" i8="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhTGascK-4AU-CL3nBR0dnjPMIik-ILoODwqEV8FSt2qMfvLRSQrALZi6MilPbSXhQvawQSdnHzF-FaBMAIm6ZikQQoBh6LLbPCOjjSTpHju_X2mrb80HG7ucOUIZCqnqEvTo48r7y1zRs/s320/Herb+Pots+Flex.jpg" width="320" /></span></a></div><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">(Sorry for the poor picture, this was at about 6am this morning. Yes that is my mom mobile you see in the background as well as a small pile of SNOW!)</span> <br />
<div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"></span></div><div style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">I'm looking forward to <strike>not killing them</strike> watching them grow. I am a serial plant killer so I'm hoping that this effort is a success!</span></div><div style="text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">I will be working on an awesome new project this weekend involving these:</span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhlfhef7yAHAgDMJLDt4BlMYmvaB5kv4jP6S8yo0X2h0e9Ll8y1Hmv9jfiPkZLOEt7NWo1qagGbiqd5VysHqVjygd3HRv1ru2ZzaOfkhb1CTfm0B6QlVeIDJ4qwtOBIJr7EBB_4m7NB35Q/s1600/BFood+Jars+Flex.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><img border="0" height="238" i8="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhlfhef7yAHAgDMJLDt4BlMYmvaB5kv4jP6S8yo0X2h0e9Ll8y1Hmv9jfiPkZLOEt7NWo1qagGbiqd5VysHqVjygd3HRv1ru2ZzaOfkhb1CTfm0B6QlVeIDJ4qwtOBIJr7EBB_4m7NB35Q/s320/BFood+Jars+Flex.jpg" width="320" /></span></a></div><div align="center" style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"></span></div><div align="center" style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">I will also hopefully be finishing up some other outstanding projects to share with you as well. I obtained all of these buttons from a cool site named Freecycle.com. It is similar to Craigslist but all the items are FREE! I put out a message that I was looking for some buttons and someone responded. I picked up three checkbook boxes full of buttons. I printed out the first letter of our last name (I used Elephant font) and traced it on a piece of cardboard backed canvas. Then I got out my trusty glue gun and went to town. This was an extrodinarily easy project. I just spent a little of extra time arranging the buttons.</span><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj1uYhacptg5FKPXz12k_mAwFvA3JsO_rPcpuVK8xriUN8Vz0m05sccRPCeC8yHOnjAw41xzIutn7h0bFlobvqweJNFS3FBNy5eLbxCXvsWlDe1BQTanFUat4dRKIkF4Gv_g44JEFun634/s1600/Flexed+Button+Mono.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><img border="0" height="320px" i8="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj1uYhacptg5FKPXz12k_mAwFvA3JsO_rPcpuVK8xriUN8Vz0m05sccRPCeC8yHOnjAw41xzIutn7h0bFlobvqweJNFS3FBNy5eLbxCXvsWlDe1BQTanFUat4dRKIkF4Gv_g44JEFun634/s320/Flexed+Button+Mono.jpg" width="253px" /></span></a></div><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">I think it turned out great and can't wait to see it on my faux mantle once it is done. I may decide to embelish it a little more as well. Now if only we could have spring weather so I can get my painting done. We are supposed to get 5-8 inches of SNOW today!</span><br />

In my living room there is a large wall that is the focal point of the room (aside from the TV of course). Since we don't have a fireplace (which I think is strange due to the house being built in 1840), I have decided to create a mantle look, without the mantle. I'm in supply gathering mode right now and am currently looking for the perfect mirror to work in my space. I am planning a spray paint session tonight and will hopefully have a few sneak peaks for you soon!</span>Kristenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02298144415187568506noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-374665626766191041.post-19671467080587555132011-04-07T11:24:00.000-07:002011-04-07T11:24:20.837-07:00Craft Show Prep!<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Hey everyone! Sorry I have been MIA this week. I have been deep in craft show things all week long. Check back tomorrow for show details and a friends and family discount coupon! </span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">I wanted to share this awesome project from Jen over at Tatertots & Jello:</span><br />

<div style="text-align: center;"></div>Kristenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02298144415187568506noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-374665626766191041.post-91990187364401042612011-03-31T07:47:00.000-07:002011-04-02T08:02:19.747-07:00Easy Paper Banner<span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;">Today's post is short, sweet and simple. So simple, I don't even have process pictures for you! In preparation for the craft show I will be attending on April 9th and 10th, I wanted to make a banner for my booth. I grabbed my trusty </span><a href="http://www.silhouetteamerica.com/"><span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;">Silhouette</span></a><span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"> and got to work. As with most Silhouette crafts, this can also be done using a scissors or craft knife. </span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;">I chose the pennant shape from the Silhouette library and moved it to the size I wanted. I then used the Copy function so that I would have two pennants the same size. I then grabbed my <a href="http://www.diecutswithaview.com/index.php">DCWV</a> scrap book paper that I got for a steal at JoAnn's this weekend. There is something about a fresh scrap book page that makes me just want to stare at it and not cut it. Its so clean and pretty in the book! </span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;">I chose the colors I wanted and went to work cutting out pennats, one for each letter in my business' name. I then chose a font and cut the letters for the words "Life's Expressions" out of a black patterned piece of scrap paper. Once I had them all cut out, I used </span><a href="http://www.elmers.com/product/detail/E904"><span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;">Elmers No-Wringle Rubber Cement</span></a><span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"> to adhere the letters to the pennants. </span><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgfmE2nf1HyAgTdGShdLF3fDbE62YgAZWDn7KF24qowqyY5ruDJeQUmHOwhFmKHZjOyFm4jiWYMucGZld0AwWxUHCtoUxb4EJLz58-RbL0WJRaLn0UopWdTH_ZT2FZQl4_TtFHdhOjgYoc/s1600/Rubber+Cement.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><img border="0" height="320" r6="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgfmE2nf1HyAgTdGShdLF3fDbE62YgAZWDn7KF24qowqyY5ruDJeQUmHOwhFmKHZjOyFm4jiWYMucGZld0AwWxUHCtoUxb4EJLz58-RbL0WJRaLn0UopWdTH_ZT2FZQl4_TtFHdhOjgYoc/s320/Rubber+Cement.jpg" width="320" /></span></a></div><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;">I love this stuff! It gives a nice clean finish since it dries clear and is super easy to use.</span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;">Once I had all the letters on and dried, I grabbed a 1/2 gross grain ribbon that I got from Wal-Mart for $.97 and used my glue gun to keep the pennats in place on the ribbon. </span><br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjFC-f7fQAojeWLzrWWqAzgTFvfwgqpFpIXkHX3378MQczSnqRvDC6nRlnnTt_aKlZmLmFbYtA237IyltRGxyu62KsC33YTYHq3IQauCU1gxjgNxYCTwKwqnvgEi4A1Qe_UVNw3h8YYp_U/s1600/LE+Banner.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><img border="0" height="320" r6="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjFC-f7fQAojeWLzrWWqAzgTFvfwgqpFpIXkHX3378MQczSnqRvDC6nRlnnTt_aKlZmLmFbYtA237IyltRGxyu62KsC33YTYHq3IQauCU1gxjgNxYCTwKwqnvgEi4A1Qe_UVNw3h8YYp_U/s320/LE+Banner.jpg" width="308" /></span></a></div><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;">Here's how it looks completed. (Pardon the glarey picture in the background) This will go up in my craft space once I have my desk in place (a whole separate post in itself!) </span><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjMoAnYAXr-52jtpnJR94MpC-Vr5tANzr_Mok27354EkiZ52CEB_a1XhYF7fVEEx7Fiy6P5VMjJj-xPoZh70AaWYj4d6QV9-DNzaA-Rsu16EqQZq8Hce_Gf7oIveU_E7Ods2QDTAsQuCUc/s1600/LE+BannerClose.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><img border="0" height="320" r6="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjMoAnYAXr-52jtpnJR94MpC-Vr5tANzr_Mok27354EkiZ52CEB_a1XhYF7fVEEx7Fiy6P5VMjJj-xPoZh70AaWYj4d6QV9-DNzaA-Rsu16EqQZq8Hce_Gf7oIveU_E7Ods2QDTAsQuCUc/s320/LE+BannerClose.jpg" width="239" /></span></a></div><div align="center"><span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"></span></div><div align="center"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;">Here is a close up of one of the pennants. This was such an easy and fun project, keep your eyes out for more of these to appear in my house!</span></div><div style="text-align: left;"><br />

<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br />
</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">I'm so happy to be here at Crafting with Training Wheels today! Isn't the name alone just wonderful? I love seeing all the variety of crafts, tutorials, recipes and furniture re-do's here! There are so many beautiful things to see, I can spend pretty much all of chore-time looking at this site!</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br />
</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Well, let me introduce myself. My name is Meg and I live over at </span><a href="http://alittleknickknack.blogspot.com/"><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">A Little Knick Knack</span></a><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">. I've been blogging for about a year and a half, and started partly to keep my sanity (3 kids under 5 - enough said) and partly to brag a little bit about what I've been working on! I realized my husband was tired of me going, "honey, what do you think about this? But do you like it? WHY??? " So, here I am! I love to have wonderful giveaways, product reviews and guest bloggers! I just finished a "SEW Basic" sewing series with another blog-friend, where we showed the step-by-step, BASIC (like, how to thread a needle) instructions and sewed a pillowcase. I also have a weekly link party every Friday called Everything but the Kitchen Sink, where the rules are--there are no rules. I'd love for you to come join!</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br />
</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Today, I'm going to show you how to make a monogram wood block. Catchy title, right? I found a nice 2" thick, 4' long board in the remnants bin at Home Depot for $.50. They cut it for me for free, into pieces about 5 1/2" long. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br />
</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">I took those pieces home and spray painted them various colors. These decorative finials I found in the furniture aisle at LOWE'S (they do NOT sell these guys at Home Depot...grrrr.....). They come 2 to a package for approximately $3/package. They are wonderful because they have screws in the bottom and are very easy to secure to your block.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br />
</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">I use floral form to stabalize them while I paint.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br />
</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br />
</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br />
</span></div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhtZUOGbJq87rQzJBNBhXiyHRnkSA9dVbmcRjUgNae3_m2IcsAyQlsIUrY7F0I791WymVXE2k3A_tYmj29_-o3q_8MY8fRj7H0THXcXBv31sJNucQaoiM2wZdATzWSIn1P_dIKsL3dwtWxd/s1600/IMGP7847.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><img border="0" height="212" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhtZUOGbJq87rQzJBNBhXiyHRnkSA9dVbmcRjUgNae3_m2IcsAyQlsIUrY7F0I791WymVXE2k3A_tYmj29_-o3q_8MY8fRj7H0THXcXBv31sJNucQaoiM2wZdATzWSIn1P_dIKsL3dwtWxd/s320/IMGP7847.JPG" width="320" /></span></a><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br />
</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Of course, I realized I couldn't paint them all at the same time if I used different colors. Duh. So, they got painted in shifts.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br />
</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br />
</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br />
</span></div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjHKAXRHFlvaR8zDlqXJTTb80JA4vr6-HmIxortT_ks6RjjZA1_FRBxvHOosChGUIwAJMlKxY8wQaIS9vKBggMQGwMSadaGQ07DP9RoWjFMQ5pO1zCGvGk2wxsdh5I9in-VDZQfNU42Av9s/s1600/IMGP7855.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><img border="0" height="212" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjHKAXRHFlvaR8zDlqXJTTb80JA4vr6-HmIxortT_ks6RjjZA1_FRBxvHOosChGUIwAJMlKxY8wQaIS9vKBggMQGwMSadaGQ07DP9RoWjFMQ5pO1zCGvGk2wxsdh5I9in-VDZQfNU42Av9s/s320/IMGP7855.JPG" width="320" /></span></a><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br />
</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">While I waited for them to dry, I used my drill to make a hole in the top and then simply screwed my finials into the hole.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br />
</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br />
</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br />
</span></div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgU6gcgV7C0XtJFO34Rmk1Bzd8ynEJtGbZwKwMyswmcpn7O4FSxLMBgt57lwJfn-LOiZesN2F2huIHKSLf9LkEafPCWFSo7FWnH5EWvo1n_ptZzLK42td6zZqKv8AjViVm7JHIA-t53FKm-/s1600/IMGP7857.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><img border="0" height="212" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgU6gcgV7C0XtJFO34Rmk1Bzd8ynEJtGbZwKwMyswmcpn7O4FSxLMBgt57lwJfn-LOiZesN2F2huIHKSLf9LkEafPCWFSo7FWnH5EWvo1n_ptZzLK42td6zZqKv8AjViVm7JHIA-t53FKm-/s320/IMGP7857.JPG" width="320" /></span></a><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br />
</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Get your sandpaper (I use a really rough grain, from 100 - 150) and sand the edges and corners.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br />
</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Here's the fun part. Grab some burlap, your craft bond adhesive spray, and your stayz-on ink...</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br />
</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br />
</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br />
</span></div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgjMllqa9BVi3g-4VjJ5lgu-D9mMgAGW57laI9DrOtuxlJR8D6C1XfRm1nJl76LcLVcV7LgKWpbG7Q4Y9Zi9MPFk7GPr8-HPbqbdJt_udKuiyxfqyTddgKJVlJKdZi-YJQV9kyf3suIOx1t/s1600/IMGP7862.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><img border="0" height="212" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgjMllqa9BVi3g-4VjJ5lgu-D9mMgAGW57laI9DrOtuxlJR8D6C1XfRm1nJl76LcLVcV7LgKWpbG7Q4Y9Zi9MPFk7GPr8-HPbqbdJt_udKuiyxfqyTddgKJVlJKdZi-YJQV9kyf3suIOx1t/s320/IMGP7862.JPG" width="320" /></span></a><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br />
</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Use the Stayz-on ink to lightly distress the sides, corners and top of the finial.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br />
</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br />
</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br />
</span></div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiGAeQsTfxT8sCiepxhnq1F4658PWg0LCLkmfvBswzAkutEVCZNrPAL_EOTofcnKWnu-eTuQBg55QYIFxxjmUAZ-hTfpC4R_FHMlS6sMcUqanJ0Ivm_Qx7kFxQwOHIwAhfoHp0UPrFhbuQ4/s1600/IMGP7863.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><img border="0" height="212" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiGAeQsTfxT8sCiepxhnq1F4658PWg0LCLkmfvBswzAkutEVCZNrPAL_EOTofcnKWnu-eTuQBg55QYIFxxjmUAZ-hTfpC4R_FHMlS6sMcUqanJ0Ivm_Qx7kFxQwOHIwAhfoHp0UPrFhbuQ4/s320/IMGP7863.JPG" width="320" /></span></a><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br />
</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Cut a piece of burlap slightly smaller than the front of your block. Start to peel away the first 2-3 strings of burlap from each side, as shown below.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br />
</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br />
</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br />
</span></div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjOF4K4rl_MF7KfXE-vHexIcDKk9KgHjwjCgsDrT9XkkEU-mifubqLBb-yrgpd5yi38LvCTNJxredL1LEMHX_OJh4PZpHdSvGuAGAaEr81cGygHouYWbbZyylWZ5gY9clfVrDJukktYHT4I/s1600/IMGP7865.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><img border="0" height="212" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjOF4K4rl_MF7KfXE-vHexIcDKk9KgHjwjCgsDrT9XkkEU-mifubqLBb-yrgpd5yi38LvCTNJxredL1LEMHX_OJh4PZpHdSvGuAGAaEr81cGygHouYWbbZyylWZ5gY9clfVrDJukktYHT4I/s320/IMGP7865.JPG" width="320" /></span></a><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"> You will get a nice frayed edge. Lightly spray the burlap with your adhesive spray and secure to the block.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br />
</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br />

Most of them were taken at night and apparently back in the day when this house was built, they didn't believe in ceiling light fixtures. Also, my dinky digital camera is probably not appropriate for this but I'm working on a new one :). Thanks for hanging in there with me.</span><br />

<br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Happy Friday everyone! I have a progress post for you today! Remember this little beauty?</span><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhWWSDz9k6itDp5fDPGnjTGV0Ia_J5UdTUyABAoblTRf4UkVZGstNBrJc6an3XnsUvYr9uyR96IERR0b_os0DKzx2-JwkDuj6u87ua8ds_K3MKSLn87RFncP6y8wJvdUOI1ae8vSoQCfTM/s1600/Table+Start.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><img border="0" height="239" r6="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhWWSDz9k6itDp5fDPGnjTGV0Ia_J5UdTUyABAoblTRf4UkVZGstNBrJc6an3XnsUvYr9uyR96IERR0b_os0DKzx2-JwkDuj6u87ua8ds_K3MKSLn87RFncP6y8wJvdUOI1ae8vSoQCfTM/s320/Table+Start.jpg" width="320" /></span></a></div><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Well today I'd like to show you its progress. If you look back at </span><a href="http://craftingwithtrainingwheels.blogspot.com/2011/03/canvas-wall-art.html"><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">this</span></a><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"> post when I first picked up this great Craigslist find, I was debating the color. All of my furniture is black but I happened to really love this piece white. I finally decided to go halfway and paint the top of the table gray (one of my accent colors) with a stencil on the top.</span><br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjPDXKNCSIK7zSpH4pFNlukWlsphFAEiuVALVzPxMcECsa0oTl-eVlKdczL3Sj0zoaz-57w-xv2WJjMJ7xZ7u9Ql35n4vu32pWeqe2TdESD8po1MhElmq9gc1r_DLd5jLZBJcokINoOLYQ/s1600/StencilTable.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><img border="0" height="239" r6="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjPDXKNCSIK7zSpH4pFNlukWlsphFAEiuVALVzPxMcECsa0oTl-eVlKdczL3Sj0zoaz-57w-xv2WJjMJ7xZ7u9Ql35n4vu32pWeqe2TdESD8po1MhElmq9gc1r_DLd5jLZBJcokINoOLYQ/s320/StencilTable.jpg" width="320" /></span></a></div><br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Above is the stencil that I purchased from the </span><a href="http://www.silhouetteamerica.com/"><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Silhouette</span></a><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"> online store and applied to the table. I cleaned the table and taped the edges with some painters tape and sprayed it with its first coat of gray spray paint.</span></div><div style="text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhqUu2FHTbosj3gGDM9_sjcihB4KnKcXB_Ab9johKwyrNZpgXbubiTEVj7N9XFvYUUXUmuKa51nDdE8049IhK9Vjdf8rXvQ9Q27i4Y75wFknedmb5NNZYgYFa-aR4dEOX4mCAhoCxDZit0/s1600/Table+First+Coat.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><img border="0" height="239" r6="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhqUu2FHTbosj3gGDM9_sjcihB4KnKcXB_Ab9johKwyrNZpgXbubiTEVj7N9XFvYUUXUmuKa51nDdE8049IhK9Vjdf8rXvQ9Q27i4Y75wFknedmb5NNZYgYFa-aR4dEOX4mCAhoCxDZit0/s320/Table+First+Coat.jpg" width="320" /></span></a></div><div style="text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">I know that it is difficult to see the gray in this picture since it was taken in my <strike>dungeon</strike> basement. You will notice that you can no longer see the stencil as I have painted over it. Tonight it will get a second coat and the stencil will be removed. Hopefully tomorrow I will be able to reveal it to you! </span></div><div style="text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">I also wanted to share another spray paint project ( I am the spray paint queen). </span></div><div style="text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj_R-f6aSpg0MsbHnr7uKgYxmhnYbfnji0VAsYJXS2rL3eOKHXUQic-ndvVScfeOKxJVEXOzRoNL-IE41bjysYP57ka7l1yfE6pI08Xypk_xqC8XLCZCsQlTqIwAFFRC5j4aFuIX_JGAZk/s1600/Shelf.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><img border="0" height="240" r6="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj_R-f6aSpg0MsbHnr7uKgYxmhnYbfnji0VAsYJXS2rL3eOKHXUQic-ndvVScfeOKxJVEXOzRoNL-IE41bjysYP57ka7l1yfE6pI08Xypk_xqC8XLCZCsQlTqIwAFFRC5j4aFuIX_JGAZk/s320/Shelf.JPG" width="320" /></span></a></div><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">This wall is directly across from my front door and is the first thing you see after coming in through the entry way. The shelf was my parents' that they purchased for a project that never happened. It was originally white and had a few scratches on it. It got a few coats of spray paint and it was brand new again. It may look like it is not hanging straight but that is because our entire house is slanting (yes, you read that correctly). The electric candles you see will soon be getting some ribbon and a monogram.</span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Thanks for stopping by today!</span><br />
